On Friday, September 18, the September 2026 Undergraduate Graduation and Graduate School Commencement were held at the Mita Campus West School Building Hall. A total of 719 students—comprising 421 undergraduates, 91 doctoral students, 178 master's students, and 29 professional master's students—celebrated their new beginnings.
The ceremony began with a report on academic affairs by Vice-President Yoshimitsu Matsuura, followed by President Kohei Itoh presenting diplomas to representatives from each faculty and graduate school. Additionally, commendation certificates were awarded to outstanding undergraduate students in accordance with the university's commendation regulations.
In the following congratulatory address by President Itoh, he spoke about the importance of having "a clear sense of purpose" and "an unyielding curiosity" in a rapidly changing world. He delivered a message encouraging the graduates to carve out their own paths without being bound by "calculation" for immediate gain. Subsequently, Professor Yoshimasa Saito of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences delivered a congratulatory address on behalf of the faculty and staff, and Takeru Matsunaga of the Faculty of Economics gave the valedictory address on behalf of the graduates. The ceremony concluded with the Rendition of Alma Mater "The Juku-ka" by the student groups Wagner Society Male Choir and Wagner Society Female Choir.
Under a pleasant, clear autumn sky, graduates could be seen throughout the campus taking commemorative photos with their diplomas in hand, and Mita Campus was filled with the joy of graduation and hope for the future.
