At the Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus, a disaster drill is held every spring for second-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Students of the Faculty of Pharmacy attend the Hiyoshi Campus in their first year and the Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus from their second year onwards. Since the Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus houses many experimental instruments and chemicals, it is very important for second-year students who have just arrived at this campus to learn how to respond in an emergency.
This year, the disaster drill was held on Friday, May 1, with approximately 200 second-year students participating. After the second period class ended (12:15–), staff explained the outline of the drill to students in the lecture hall and distributed the "Keio University Disaster and Emergency Pocket Guide." Subsequently, assuming a fire caused by an earthquake, a drill was conducted in which students evacuated outside the building while confirming evacuation routes according to the in-building announcements and guidance.
Simultaneously with the evacuation drill for students, initial firefighting and safety protection drills were conducted, primarily by staff members appointed as members of the self-defense fire brigade. Fire extinguisher training for faculty and staff was also held.
At the Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus, we re-examine our fire defense plans based on the results of these drills to ensure that students, faculty, and staff can stay safe.
