Yuichi Hosoya Seminar

In this seminar, where we study European diplomatic history and international politics, we aim to gain deeper insights into the ever-changing world of international politics by connecting history with the present, and Europe with the rest of the world. I believe the appeal of diplomatic history lies in the ability to relive the moments when individuals make decisions amidst suffering and trial, and to survey the vast entirety of international politics across time and space. Above all, what I feel is most important is to enjoy academic study and to grow through it. Enjoyment without growth is fleeting, and growth without enjoyment is unsustainable. During the two years of this seminar, we will read many fascinating books on diplomatic history and international politics and use them as a basis for discussion. For those of you who feel that studying is not very interesting, why not broaden your horizons and discover a new intellectual joy?
